Andre or whatsoever Microsoft experts, Hope you're still around. It'south almost 2018. This is a very helpful guide. Give thanks you!
Questions. Does the "Backup and Restore/Create An Image" include not only Windows seven, only volition information technology include the My Documents and all other precious folders and settings? And will it include the software/applications that take collected over years? The process of finding and re-loading all those on a new hard drive is such an awful long and daunting process.
Thank you and then much!!

Be aware that cloning a failing difficult drive is a bad practice. Chances are loftier that at that place is corruption on that failing drive that will be precisely copied to a new ane.
A complete (custom) installation is advised.

To Canadian, Thank you lot for your advice. Permit me say that I have just made the "custom" install of Windows 7. And then everything is very fresh, new and clean. Now I'm sorry non to consider before -- I would like the computer to run faster/smoother. I can't increase the Memory Ram because it'south max'd out (at a low amount unfortunately), so I'one thousand thinking to replace and increment size of Difficult Drive.
It's a lot to transfer over, once more, since I just went through the process.
Transfering My Documents/files/folders isn't and so much a trouble since I simply had to back it up on an external drive to upgrade to Windows 7. Information technology's all the apps and softwares that I don't sympathize if they can be backed up. ? Does BAckup and Restore enable that?
Does it fill-in the Windows seven program as well? or practice I need to install Win 7 all over over again?
I really appreciate it.

You cannot fill-in and restore applications. They must be re-installed. If you did a Custom install, all that was on that drive should be gone now.
I ordinarily recommend a Custom install on a new hard drive if the hard drive is 5 years or older and on laptop iii or 4 years or more. Make certain your new drive is a 7200 rpm one and is larger than what you lot have now, simply do non consider anything larger than 2 TB.
Tell me more about your figurer:
- Laptop or Desktop
- Age of computer
- make/model
- Operating system installed (e.g. Windows 7)
- 32 or 64 bit? (Correct-click on Computer, cull Properties)
- Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed? Same place equally five above.
- Capacity of disk drive, how much is in use? Pie chart shown in Computer
- Model number of difficult drive (click Disk in Device Manager)
- How much memory is installed? (Correct-click on Computer, choose Properties)
- Please list ALL installed programs.....
- Security software installed?
- Speed of Internet service yous are using (www.speedtest.net )
