Dan Brown's Next New Book
This is a preview look at what we may expect in Dan Brown's next book after Origin .
The actual content will not be released until Dan has wrung every last drop of suspense out of what is tradtionally a very long process. But here is the best projection available so far.
Since his travels are a hint to where he is next sending symbology professor Langdon, we can work from there.
Although Dan travels all over the globe for book festivals and what-have-you, there are a few locations that have resonated more than others. When he was at the United Arab Emirates, our antennae started vibrating. That fit right in with a comment he made while visiting there:
�There is no shortage of material for Robert Langdon in this world. Symbols, religion, conspiracy, all of that is a really rich world to explore."
Since he always likes to plow new ground, what better place to do that than the Arab world? Talk about "symbols, religion and conspiracy," it�s definitely all there. Add to that the Arab propensity to write in beautiful calligraphy with the words and letters shaped in such a way as to create amazing artwork. And the image thus created can also convey a message. It�s all vintage Dan Brown.
In second place among all the locations Dan has visited in the last couple of years is Prague. That is a musty old medieval city with lots of secrets. And he had an intriguing comment to make there as well:
�This visit has been very inspirational�. There are certain views of the city, for example from Charles Bridge looking up at the castle, that almost don�t seem real. You can almost imagine that someone painted the perfect picture.�
So expect Dan to paint Prague into his next book after Origin ... while on his way to the Arab world where a white-knuckled confrontation involving who�s-a-friend-and-who�s-a-foe carries us through the shifting border between Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
Heck, I�d buy that book.

Dan Brown shared these thoughts on his next new book during a May 13, 2012 interview.
Dan Brown says:
"I can tell you there is another book in progress. I am having a great time with it. I cannot share with you the subject matter or the location, but it�s another Robert Langdon thriller in the world of symbols and codes. It opens in a much different way than my other books, and Langdon is in a very different situation than he�s ever been in and has to use a different set of tools to extricate himself.
"Once I pick a topic and location, I have to read a lot to educate myself. I have to meet with specialists, travel to these locations, and gather mountains of information. Once I have all the information I need, I start outlining. I�m an early riser. I write from 4 o�clock until maybe noon, I get a little exercise, then deal with business in the afternoon. I do that seven days a week.
"The work that I do, as any writer knows, is fairly time-consuming and labor-intensive and focus-intensive. If I am answering fan mail or going to give speeches or doing movies, it�s very, very hard for me to write. It really seems respectful to my fans who are waiting for a book to stay focused on that.
This interview was told to Joel Brown and published in the Boston Globe . The event was at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
